I bought this nice old car thinking it was a 409 clone. As we were inspecting and cleaning, tell-tale signs started suggesting it may be a real 409 car, it is numbers matching!
The 409 starts quickly and runs great. It has good power and a nice throaty tone. The powerglide transmission works just fine. This is really a great cruiser.
This is a 340 HP car and the original intake, carburetor and exhaust manifolds are still in place. A correct chrome air cleaner compliments the chrome valve covers and alternator.
This is a power steering/power brake car. It is very easy to handle. The original AM radio still plays. There is an FM convertor beneath the dash. A Sun Tach is mounted on the steering column.
It was originally Ermine White with an Aqua interior. The interior is as original, but the body color has been changed to GM Bright Aqua Metallic. A very thorough and professional job was performed.
You will like the body and the shine. It is show worthy. The interior is in very nice condition, too.
The interior is very nice. The trunk is restored to original and very attractive. The engine bay is bright and shiny. This truely is an attractive car.
At some point, it was likely winter driven. Some of the floor supports show corrosion. The entire underside was coated many years ago. It hides some flaws, but we wanted you to know that this car isn't perfect.
Yet it is a perfect Cruise Night car. It looks good, it drives nice, it sounds great. Open the hood and listen to the comments.
Some may suggest it is likely a 409 clone. You might want to point out the partial VIN stamped on the machined pad. This is a real 409 car that still carries its original engine. Viewed: 665 times.
